Michael Plotno, D.M.D., grew up in the Bronx, NY where he gained admission to the prestigious Bronx High School of Science. He remained in New York to attend the City University of New York earning a Bachelor of Science degree. in Biology graduating with honors. Dr. Plotno went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine graduating at the top of his class. After completing a general practice residency at Suburban General Hospital in Norristown Pennsylvania, Dr. Plotno returned to Philadelphia to specialize in Periodontology, Oral Medicine and Implantology at Temple University. Since earning his specialty certificate in Periodontology in 1984, Dr. Plotno has worked with some of the most distinguished dental professionals throughout New Jersey and New York as well as being an Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Periodontology at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.
For the past 30+ years, Dr. Plotno has maintained specialty practices in both New York and New Jersey honing his skills and expertise while building a reputation as one of the area's premier periodontists. Dr. Plotno is only one of a handful of Periodontists in the United States certified to provide state of the art FDA cleared minimally invasive, no cutting/no stitching Laser Assisted Periodontal Surgery ( LANAP ) to his patients. He now brings that same expertise in the fields of Periodontal disease, Oral Medicine and lmplantology to 5Th Avenue Dental Associates, to focus and expand upon the philosophy that is manifest in every facet of this award winning practice.
In addition to bringing his talents to 5 Avenue Dental Associates, Dr. Plotno is a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations, including : American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, American Academy of Oral Medicine, Northeastern Society of Periodontists, International College of Oral lmplantologists, American College of Oral lmplantology and American Society of Osseointegration. Dr. Plotno also assists the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry and is called upon as an expert in the field of Periodontology.
